In Spring 2023, after a phase of reorientation, we got back into a regular rhythm of getting in exchange with a bigger community with the format EINMAL IM MONAT on every 1st Wednesday of the month. Each motto for the retrospective gathering is reflecting on our current situation as a collective. The meetings however are meant to be a convivial ground for exchange rather than a one directional presentation of our practice.
Open gatherings have always been a part of LU'UM. With the format EINMAL IM MONAT we move from one location to another. In 2023 we gathered in our temporary spaces in the fux Genossenschaft and Neues Amt. We visited the project “Closing Circles” by Wefield in the Gleishalle Oberhafen. We celebrated a block party in the backyard of a collective member Déborah. We were booth operators handing out french fries at the kiosk of hallo hallo hallo at PARKS and we organized a BBQ at the Honigfabrik in Wilhemsburg. Closing the year in December we built Lebkuchenhäuser at Neues Amt. The first gatherings of 2024 were held at our new collective space in Münzviertel accompanied by an experimental podcast format called “Inside the Box” in cooperation with not a blind spot.
We see the meeting itself as a contribution to a greater support-structure beyond disciplines and backgrounds. Attending the open gatherings has been the starting point for almost all of us to join LU‘UM as active members. We always inform the public on instagram a few days before the gathering about the location.
